Librorum Capsula

Privacy Policy

This policy describes what information Librorum Capsula collects when you use the website (librorumcapsula.com) and the Librorum Capsula Android app, how it is used, and the choices you have. The website and the app share one account and one set of data. Last updated October 21, 2026.

Information we collect

Account information: your email address and a hashed password when you register, and an optional display name. We never store your password in plain text.

Reading and study data: your reading progress, notebook entries, highlights, margin notes, flashcards and review history, shelf, placement and Iter answers, weekly goals, badges, and (if you use them) community posts and reports. This is the data the site and the app need to function: to resume where you left off, track your progress and show your saved words. In the Android app some of it is also stored on your device so you can read offline, and it syncs to your account when you are online.

Newsletter: if you tick the newsletter box when registering or in your account settings, we record that choice and the time you made it. You can change it at any time in your account settings.

Billing data: if you subscribe on the website, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Librorum Capsula never receives or stores your card number; we keep only a Stripe customer and subscription reference and your subscription status. The Android app does not sell or manage subscriptions; it only reads whether your account has access to paid books.

Cookies and analytics (website): a cookie identifies your signed-in session so you do not have to log in on every page. The website also uses Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 to measure how the site is used, such as which pages and books are opened and whether a visitor reaches a free-reading limit. Google may set its own cookies for this and receives that usage information. We also keep our own first-party reading statistics, which are used only to run and improve the service. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not show ads.

Android app: the app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting libraries and does not use the advertising ID. It uses the network only to talk to librorumcapsula.com.

How we use this information

To operate your account, save and display your reading progress and notebook, process subscription payments through Stripe, send the emails an account needs (verification and password reset) and, if you opted in, the newsletter, run the community discussion boards (including moderation and abuse reports), understand how the website is used, and respond to support requests you send us.

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make the service work, each of which processes it only as needed to provide its service to us: Stripe (payments), Railway (application hosting and the database), Brevo (sending email), and Google (Tag Manager and Analytics, on the website).

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are stored only as hashes.

Your choices and deleting your data

You can update your account details from your profile and cancel your subscription at any time from the Stripe billing portal.

To delete your account and everything attached to it: in the Android app, open your profile and choose Delete account (you will be asked for your password). On the website, or if you cannot use the app, email help@librorumcapsula.com from the address on your account and ask for it to be deleted. We process email requests within 30 days, except where we are legally required to keep billing records for tax or legal purposes.

Children

Librorum Capsula is intended for users age 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Librorum Capsula after a change means you accept the updated policy.

Contact

Librorum Capsula is operated from Texas, United States. Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to help@librorumcapsula.com.
